One of the oldest aerospace and defence trade bodies in the UK has marked its longest-serving members with a celebration evening.
Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) provides support to hundreds of companies in the aerospace sector and its supply chain.
While most are in the south and south-east it has members across the country and internationally.
FAC decided to celebrate its longest-serving members 10 years-plus at the start of what will be a hugely important year in the sector.
Representatives of the companies enjoyed dinner at Farnborough College of Technology – which is one of the longest serving members.
After the meal at the Galley restaurant, FAC chairman Sir Donald Spiers addressed the businesses.
He said afterwards: “Our members appreciate what we do for them as an umbrella organisation.
“The more members we have, the more powerful our voice and the bigger our influence.
“This year will see us exit the EU and will also see the Farnborough International Air and Trade Show, which will focus the world’s attention upon us. These events will present great opportunities for all our members.
“We wanted to thank our long-serving members for their support over the years with a meal and some great networking opportunities.”
Among the companies at the event were Airbus Space & Defence, Bishop GMBH, the Canadian High Commission, Farsound Aviation, Loadmasters,
MOOG Reading, Paintservices Group UK, Phoenix Systems, Richard Gardner Associates, Rockwell Collins, Sigma Components, PSG and TUV-SUD.
The longest-serving business was Barnbrook Systems, run by Tony Barnett.
Based in Fareham, Hampshire, the long-established company produces electro-mechanical switching devices.
Tony said: “The FAC has proved over the years to be great value for money.
“Our company has greatly benefited from all it does for the aerospace industry and its supply chain, which is what Barnbrook Systems works in.
“I would recommend it to any business with a connection to the sector. It provides some services and many great networking opportunities.”
