Ballerina finishes her GCSEs with aplomb

LeAF Studio student, TV star and talented ballerina Harriet Williamson completed her GCSEs with aplomb, achieving three As, seven Bs and one C in GCSE. She has also secured one of just 10 fully funded places at the prestigious Tring Park School for the Performing Arts.

Everything is pointing to a bright future for ballerina Harriet Williamson after she danced away with excellent GCSE results.

The TV dance star – Harriet recently made it to the final four of CBBC’s The Next Step – is just one of many success stories from Bournemouth’s LeAF Academy.

Harriet attends LeAF Studio, the specialist school for developing athletes and performing arts students, which has seen 59.3% of its students achieve A* to C grades in English and Maths.

And to add to her good news, Harriet has been successfully selected on to just one of 10 fully funded places at the Tring Park School for the Performing Arts.

The talented dancer will take with her three As, seven Bs and one C in GCSE.

Other successes from LeAF Studio include athlete Niko Gleed  who achieved four As, two Bs, two Cs and an AS in German, performer Samantha Toms who scored two A*s, five As, two Bs and one C and performer Jordan Pegg who achieved three As, five Bs and one C.

Sister school, Oak Academy, also celebrated a number of individual successes, including these bright sparks:

Idris Khan: who achieved six As and four Bs.

Kieran Burgess who scored five As and five Bs.

Holly Hopkins who achieved two A*’s, five As, one B and one C.

Maddie Cook who scored five As, three Bs and one C.

And Gabrielle Bishop who achieved one A*, one A and eight Bs.

Commenting on these successes, Oak Academy Principal, Richard Burgas, said: “We are very pleased that so many individual students achieved such great successes that will help them continue on to the next phase of their life.”

Overall Oak Academy saw 35% of students achieve A*-C grades in GCSE English and Maths.

 The school also produced a Progress 8 score, in line with results last year and is again above the government’s national floor standard.

In the Sciences, students celebrated a 100% pass rates across the board, securing 85% A*-C in Biology and Physics, closely followed by 78% A*-C in Chemistry. A similar story continued in the wider curriculum with A*-C results in Geography, French, Engineering and Construction in excess of 80%.
