An entrepreneur has launched a new business on the Isle of Wight, providing inventories and related reports for landlords and letting agents.
Neil Baker, who lives in Shanklin, has spent many years commuting to corporate roles on the mainland but wanted to work locally.
He has now become a licensee for VeriSmart Inventories and is already busy within the growing rental sector.
Prior to a property being rented the landlord or agent requires an inventory compiling.
able to create what is required accurately and at speed using VeriSmart’s very own trademarked technology.
The process is completely paper-free and the inventories are automatically emailed to agents and tenants for online verification.
Additionally, and in line with current legislation and the housing health and rating system requirements for landlords and their agents, Neil provides legionella risk assessments, proper CO and smoke detector testing (using synthetic smoke and CO) and electrical appliance testing ensuring that landlords are kept legal and their tenants safe.
Neil said: “I moved to the island as a teenager and always wanted to work here but there were not many opportunities which is why I commuted for so many years.
“But investing in VeriSmart meant I could work and live in the same place.
“VeriSmart is a brilliant product, with unique, trademarked software and is the best in the industry.
“I can provide inventories accurately and more quickly than clients are used to. The extra services are also important in keeping landlords legal and tenants safe.
“Being local I have a knowledge of the island that also saves time; and clients do like working with a business based here.
“I am developing relationships with landlords and letting agents and ultimately want to create jobs.
“Prior to launching I spent time working with other licensees in Bournemouth and Southampton.
“With home-ownership declining, renting is on the rise so there is a growing demand for VeriSmart’s services.”
Notes to editors:
VeriSmart Inventories was re-branded in 2015 after developing its unique smart verification software that allows for the paper-free inventories to be compiled with speed and accuracy. The company was launched 25 years ago in the Bournemouth and Poole conurbation in Dorset, where it is still headquartered. The new technology allowed the business to adopt a franchise model. Some of its licensees make a substantial six figure income. It operates across England and now Wales.
