A spectacular medieval ball held in the grounds of Portchester Castle raised £13,000 for the Rose Road Association that works with children who have multiple and complex health needs.
The Southampton-based charity is active across Hampshire and has been doing important work for 65 years.
Almost 200 guests attended the event, some of them in flamboyant medieval attire.
It was also marked the retirement of the charity’s chief executive Heather Aspinall after 22 years at the helm.
Sponsored by local firms Wild Recruitment and TJ Waste & Recycling, the event included a silent and a live auction of superb prizes donated for the occasion.
These included a flight in a Jet Provost aeroplane, festival tickets, a supercar experience and even a six month membership to Fontwell Racecourse.
The charity’s HR manager Kevin Porter was MC for the evening and auctioneer Les Heyhoe helped relieve guests of their money.
Rose Road provides a range of services for over 350 young people from childhood up to the age of 25.
It runs the Bradbury Centre in Southampton and with more young people requiring its help, fundraising becomes ever more important.
Chief Executive Heather Aspinall said: “Our annual Ball with TJ Waste and Wild Recruitment was another fantastic event, and we are grateful for their continued support which allows us to support young people with disabilities in Hampshire.
“This is my last event as CEO, and so it was great to be able to enjoy such a fun evening.”
