Oak Academy has seen increases across the board in this year’s A-level results, with every student who applied securing a university place.
The A-level and vocational combined average grade is a C, up from a low D last year.
And the average grade for vocational qualifications is now an impressive Distinction*, surpassing last year’s good grade of Distinction.
Almost twice as many students achieved at least a B grade in one of their exams this year, compared to last.
Nearly half of all students gained at least one A* to C grade a significant increase on last year.

For the past year Oak Academy has been working under the guidance of Ambitions Academies Trust (AAT), and is now officially part of the Trust.
Executive Principal and AAT Director, Paul Holman, said: “It has been a privilege to be a part of this academy for the last 12 months.
“There have been many positive changes put in place during this year to ensure that the best opportunities are provided for all of our sixth form students.
“It is great to be able to see these changes impact positively for our young people in today’s results.
“I have seen first-hand the determination of all our staff and students to succeed and improve on last year’s results.
“Whilst there is still much work to do, this year marks a move in the right direction for Oak’s results and there are many individual success stories to celebrate.”
Callum Cousins scored a triple Distinction* in Creative Media and Distinction* in Music Technology; Megan Berry also achieved a triple Distinction* in Creative Media Production as well as a C in English Literature and Language; and Jess Elford achieved a Distinction* in Music Technology and an A in A-level Sociology.
The academy is also celebrating the news that all of its students who applied to university have secured a place, including Lloyd Smith who is off to Portsmouth University to study Pharmacy and Sophie Ellis who is off to Greenwich to study Criminology and Criminal Psychology.
Principal of Oak Academy, Richard Burgas, said: “We are very proud of the vocational training opportunities we offer our students and the successes this leads to.
“This has been a particularly good year for our students studying the A-level equivalent BTECH.”
Hollie Barnes and Megan Carey are among this year’s high achievers on the vocational platform.
Both girls are going on to Bournemouth University – Hollie to study Children’s and Young People’s Nursing and Megan to study Adult Nursing.
