This year’s Halloween is likely to be the biggest ever, according to one of the UK’s largest party supply companies.
Peeks, based in Christchurch, Dorset, says early sales indicate that Brits will be embracing the occasion like never before.
The company sells through its website, catalogues and its huge party store and has more products available than in any previous years.
It sells to individuals but also to pub and hotel groups which have been putting in large orders ahead of the October 31 date.
Managing director Nick Peek, said: “Halloween has grown steadily over the years and this year we’ve seen a lot of early interest.
“One reason is that there have been no major sporting events or royal occasions in the year.
“This means that pubs, clubs and hotels will be making the most of the other occasions in the calendar.
“Halloween is popular with both children and adults, which obviously boosts sales; children’s pumpkin parties are becoming much more common.
“The 31st is a Tuesday so we will see Halloween events on the weekends either side of it, which again helps drive sales.
“With products available at low cost people are easily able to decorate their homes in order to host parties and we are seeing an increasing number of people doing this.
“Particular items that are selling well include tableware, scene setters as well as the spiders, cobwebs and ghoulish items that are most associated with the day.”
