Another great GCSE year for Arnewood

The Arnewood School in New Milton is celebrating another good year of GCSE results.

Overall the school saw 62% of its students achieve at least five A* – C including English and Mathematics.

The school also scored highly in those achieving the prestigious English Baccalaureate (EBACC).

Thirty-one per pent achieved A* to C in the core academic subjects that make up the EBACC – English, maths, history or geography, the sciences and a language – that is almost 10 per cent higher than last year’s national average (22.9%).

And in the sciences nearly a third of those taking the exam achieved an A* or an A including A*-C passes in biology, chemistry and physics of 96%, 100% and 96% respectively.

More than 80% of students achieved A*-C in computing, German, French, media studies, biology, chemistry, and physics.

Headteacher, Nigel Pressnell said: “We are delighted with this year’s set of results and it is wonderful to see so many of our students do so well.

“I’m particularly pleased with our continuing high results in some of the core subjects. As always I’d like to thank staff and parents for their constant support and encouragement.”

And for Samantha they were: Maths A*, history A*, drama B, biology A*, chemistry A*, physics A*, German B, English Language A, English Literature A.
