Watch out the Brownlee brothers!

Three staff at a Dorset accountancy firm are hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Olympic gold and silver medal winners by completing their first-ever long distance triathlon challenge.

Adrian Way, Chris Potts and Josh Mudge will be among 2,500 athletes taking part in Weymouth’s first official Ironman on Sunday September 11.

Entrants will complete an open water swim of 2.4 miles, a 112 mile cycle ride and a 26.2 mile marathon run.

The accountancy trio work in the audit section of chartered accountants and business advisers PKF Francis Clark, based at the firm’s Poole office.

Adrian, 39, an Audit and Accounts Manager, said: “It’s the first time any of us have tackled a gruelling challenge like this but we’ve been in training for months.

“I’ve done lots of running, including this year’s London Marathon, and Josh did the Tour of Wessex which involved three days of back-to-back cycle riding of up to 120 miles a day.

“Josh and I have been swimming in the sea, as well as cycling and running, and Chris is a former Royal Marine so is well up to the challenge.”

The audit threesome are hoping to raise at least £2,500 for their chosen charity, Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.

PKF Francis Clark has made a ‘sizable’ contribution to the joint £1,272 entrance fee.

The Weymouth event is only the third full Ironman competition in the UK.

It coincides with the new Ironman 70.3 which also takes place on September 11 and is expected to bring thousands of athletes to Dorset from across the UK.
