Avonbourne’s bright sparks

Avonbourne Sixth Form is celebrating the success of its A-level students.

The Bournemouth academy has seen 94% of its students achieve A* to E, including notable results in many subject areas.

In Art, Religious Studies and most languages there was a 100% record of students achieving A* to C grades.

Among the individual successes was bright by name bright by nature – Anna Bright who secured three As in Geography, Religious Studies and Dance.

Other high achievers included Lily McDermaid who achieved an A* in English Literature, an A in Psychology and two Bs in Law and Fine Art; Angela Willis who notched up two As in General Maths and Religious Studies and two Bs in History; and Luke Beer who achieved a B and two Cs in English Literature, Geography and Media.

The future also looks bright for the sixth form with its Year 12 students scoring excellent results in their AS levels.

Among them was Lorcan Young who has recently returned from summer school at Cambridge University. Lorcan achieved an A grade in his AS Law.

Other AS successes included Elias Ledger who achieved four As in General Maths, Further Maths, German and Italian and Grace Burbidge, Jiahao Zhang and Elliott Pardoe all secured A grades.

CEO of Avonbourne Trust, Debbie Godfrey-Phaure, said: “I am absolutely thrilled by the success of our students who have all worked so hard and incredibly well.
