Barnbrook Systems flying high with aerospace award

An innovative Hampshire firm is flying high after winning a prestigious regional manufacturing award.

Fareham-based Barnbrook Systems Ltd scooped the Aerospace and Defence title at the Made in the South East Awards at the Hilton Hotel, Gatwick Airport.

The family-run firm was also a finalist in the SME Manufacturing Company of the Year (below £25m turnover) and Technology Award categories.

It claimed the honours after a bumper 2016 when demand soared for its trailblazing BlueCube remote condition monitoring technology.

It also followed a six-figure contract with aerospace and defence giant Leonardo for a BlueCube enabled Refuelling Switch to allow safer and more efficient inflight refuelling of helicopters, deemed to be an in-class world first.

Andrew Barnett, Barnbrook’s Chief Technology Officer, said: “The awards highlighted the tremendous talent, innovation and vision in British manufacturing today.

“We were delighted to win the Aerospace and Defence Award, and be a finalist in two more categories.

Barnbrook Systems, based in Fareham Park Road, Fareham, is a designer, developer and manufacturer of electronic and electro-mechanical switching devices and systems for aerospace, defence, maritime, rail and commercial industries worldwide.

Its BlueCube and accompanying iSense software – all designed and manufactured in house – can track nearly any function on an such an asset as a train or helicopter in real-time to make sure it keeps running efficiently.   The innovative system can be used across any sector, including marine, automotive and security and forms a key component in the Internet Of Things.
