An award-winning telecoms specialist with 10,000 business customers in the UK has been shortlisted for the recruitment industry’s ‘Oscars’.
South Coast-based 4Com, which has just been named number one in The Sunday Times’ 100 Best Companies to Work For list, is a finalist in the Recruiter Awards 2017.
The company is competing for the Best In-house Recruitment Team award and is up against a host of big-name employers such as House of Fraser and the employment brand and sourcing team of SAP software solutions.
The UK’s most prestigious honours in recruitment, the Recruiter Awards recognise best practice and celebrate the great work and achievements of in-house, agency, recruitment process outsourcing teams and individuals.
James Newton, 4Com’s Talent Acquisition Director, said: “It was great to hear that we have made the final shortlist alongside such a high calibre of nominees. I’m really proud of the team’s efforts.
“We based our award submission on the period between October 2015 and October 2016 when our newly installed, four-strong recruitment team not only grew the 4Com workforce from 215 to 299, but also significantly reduced the number of staff brought in by external agencies by using more cost effective, direct recruitment methods.”
4Com’s workforce has a variety of roles, from research and development in hardware and software to marketing, training, sales, installation and maintenance.
James added: “4Com has always known what to look for when hiring new people and the average tenure of our staff, who have an average age of 32, with 60% earning more than £35,000 annually, is an impressive five years.
“A continuing challenge for the recruitment team is to identify people who not only have the correct skills for 4Com, but who also fit our culture and our future goals.
“We know if we recruit people in the right way it directly impacts on the service we deliver and ensures our customers are delighted.
“Direct recruiting now accounts for 90 per cent of our hiring and our average time to fill a role is now just 15 days. It is extremely satisfying to be playing such a key role in growing the business.”
4Com will learn whether it is adding another award to its collection at the Recruiter Awards Gala Dinner, on Wednesday, 3rd May at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
In The Sunday Times’ 100 Best Companies to Work For list, 4Com posted a top score of 91% positive, demonstrated a ‘real sense of family’ and topped a range of categories, such as wellbeing, fair deal, giving something back and right at the top – leadership.
