Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) finalist Jon Clegg has joined the star-studded cast of Wessex Heartbeat’s 25th Anniversary Variety Show at the Mayflower on April 30.
Jon won a place in the final of BGT 2015 after wowing the judges with his impressions of Ant & Dec, Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Kermit the Frog and Keith Lemon.
He said: “I’m thrilled to be performing in the Wessex Heartbeat Variety Show.
“Wessex Heartbeat is a wonderful charity which has raised millions of pounds for the cardiac unit at Southampton General Hospital and it will be a pleasure to perform on its behalf.”
He added: “I’ll be appearing alongside a host of top acts and I’ve also been told to expect a great audience at the Mayflower, so I’m sure we’re all going to have a really fabulous night and raise lots of money for Wessex Heartbeat’s projects in 2017.”
Wessex Heartbeat began fundraising for the Wessex Cardiac Unit at Southampton Hospital in 1992, and has since raised £15.8 million to provide crucial improvements, cutting-edge equipment, clinical education and research.
Its 25th Anniversary Variety Show will take place at the Mayflower Theatre on Sunday 30th April and also joining the line-up will be Morecambe and Wise tribute artists Jonty Stephens and Ian Ashpitel who will be recreating some of Eric and Ernie’s classic TV sketches, as well as undiscovered gems and original pieces written in their style.
Local choir E Minor and classical singers The Five will also perform.
Jon Clegg now works all over the world on P&0 Cruises’ Celebrity and Princess cruise ships.
P&0 Cruises’ parent company, Carnival UK is a long-term supporter of Wessex Heartbeat and has also arranged for another of its stars, West End favourite Ruth Henshall, to star in the Variety Show.
