The stage is set for a ‘unique’ partnership between one of the UK’s flagship theatres and Chichester’s newest care home.
Colten Care, which opened its Wellington Grange home at the beginning of April, has become a Principal Partner of Chichester Festival Theatre (CFT).
The partnership is aimed at bringing residents and their families and friends closer to the theatre they love.
Eminent speakers from CFT will visit Wellington Grange for one-off events and exclusive and interactive creative resident workshops will be held at the home.
Residents, family and friends will also have priority access to events and theatre tickets as well as the chance to win a complimentary pair of theatre tickets in a monthly draw.
Activities at Wellington Grange already lined up include a talk from producers of Half A Sixpence, CFT’s big summer musical collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh which runs from July 14 to September 3.
Tim Wookey, Colten Care’s Director of Marketing, said: “We are continually seeking ways for our residents to have access to the things they love despite the challenges some might face with their independence or confidence.
“This partnership allows us to work closely with the CFT team to create opportunities for our residents to access the brilliant shows and exclusive events that otherwise wouldn’t have been available.
“It also makes the most of our close geographical connections to Chichester Festival Theatre, which is less than a mile from Wellington Grange.”
Victoria Gregory, Corporate Manager, Chichester Festival Theatre, added: “We are thrilled to be working with Wellington Grange and looking forward to welcoming the residents at Chichester Festival Theatre.
“We are particularly excited about entering into a unique partnership with Colten Care where we can work closely with staff to design a bespoke programme of events to suit the needs and interests of the residents.”
Colten Care’s Wellington Grange is the family-owned company’s 20th home and its first in Sussex.
The 72-bedroom home, by the corner of Broyle Road and Wellington Road, provides residential, nursing and respite care services. It cost £11 million and will create up to 120 jobs when it reaches full occupancy.
Facilities at Wellington Grange include an in-house cinema, hairdressing salon, spa room, Brandy Hole library, Royal Sussex Dining Room and Sandpiper Bistro.
Note to Journalists: With more than 30 years’ experience, Colten Care is an award-winning family-owned care home company based in Lymington, Hampshire. It has 20 quality care homes covering Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex and Wiltshire and offers a range of services spanning residential, nursing and dementia care. Colten Care is determined to set the highest standards in all aspects of care of the older person. Colten Care is also committed to raising money for charitable causes. Residents in each home are encouraged to nominate a main charity to help every year, leaving scope for other organisations to be supported too. Activities organisers, social carers and other team members then enable residents to contribute directly in meaningful ways such as making arts and crafts to sell at fundraising fetes and suggesting ideas for sponsored quizzes. In 2015, Colten Care residents and team members raised nearly £32,000 for charity.
