AUCTION LOT: Vale Royal Church, Tunbridge Wells

Britain’s largest independent regional land and property auctioneer Clive Emson is cataloguing 145 lots for its June sale.

And the company is continuing to boom so far this year, selling properties to the value of £65million.

Managing Director James Emson said: “Our success rate of 85% is well above the national average.

“I put this down to the quality of the lots we are offering – right across the board – and to a firm commitment to the exceptional service we offer both vendors and purchasers.

“We are looking forward to the June auction with a fantastic range of outstanding lots awaiting discerning bidders.

Highlights of the June auction – being staged by the independent, family-run firm from June 13 to 17 – include an ice cream kiosk in a Dorset tourist hot spot made famous by the hit TV drama Broadchurch.

The Shack at West Bay, near Bridport, is guide priced £55,000 to £65,000 and is close to where stars such as David Tennant and Olivia Colman are currently filming the third and final series of the drama.

The late Victorian era Vale Royal Methodist Church in the centre of Tunbridge Wells has a freehold guide price of £500,000 to £600,000. It is considered to have development potential.

A block of nine flats at the former Magpie pub in Portsmouth, let at £58,728 per annum, is guide priced at £750,000-plus.

Other lots include a former telephone exchange in Norfolk; a chalet at Camber Sands holiday park, Sussex; a five bedroom house in six acres near Brentwood, Essex and a block of six flats in three end terrace buildings in Brighton.

Clive Emson holds a regional auction at five locations every six weeks. The June auction, starting at 11am, is at the following venues:

Kent & SE London – Monday, June 13 at the Clive Emson Conference Centre, Detling, Maidstone, Kent.

Essex & North and East London – Tuesday, June 14 at the Chelmsford City Racecourse, Chelmsford.

Sussex & Surrey – Wednesday, June 15 at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, Brighton.

Notes to reporters:

Clive Emson Auctioneers has 50 staff and is a property and land auctioneer to estate agents, commercial property agents, statutory bodies and private clients. It was established by namesake founder and Chairman Clive Emson in 1989, with eight sets of five auctions throughout 2015.

The firm’s reach is across southern England, from Kent to Cornwall and now Essex and North and East London too with a new office in Chelmsford and it is one of the top four auctioneers in the UK by way of value and volume of residential sales.

Lots regularly generate newsworthy stories, from nuclear bunkers and sea forts to churches, clubs, pubs, former public toilets and historic properties, as well as the more usual homes under the hammer and which are often of keen interest to local residents. A number of newspapers utilise the news releases to run as ‘What’s Happening Here?’ columns.
