Law firm drives ahead at new HQ

OPENING DOORS: Snows Toyota Hedge End sales manager Steve Barrett, left, presents Eric Robinson Solicitors’ managing partner Craig Petrie with a Toyota Yaris Hybrid, a city car which combines electric power with a petrol engine for fuel efficiency, outside the law firm’s new headquarters at Vanbrugh House, Botleigh Grange, Hedge End, near Southampton.

An expanding law firm in the South has acquired a hybrid pool car so staff can travel from its new headquarters to other offices with a greener conscience.

Eric Robinson Solicitors has been supplied with a new Toyota Yaris Hybrid by Snows Motor Group, which has a Toyota dealership less than a mile away.

Combining electric power with a petrol engine for fuel efficiency, the ‘shuttle’ will be used for journeys to and from the firm’s nine other offices.

These include Richmond in south-west London, Bracknell and, nearer to home, Southampton, Winchester and Basingstoke.

The tie-up between two leading companies is part of a commercial relationship which stretches back decades in south Hampshire.

With 140 staff, and established locally in 1964 by the namesake late founder, Eric Robinson moved into its new head office in early September.

A 6,235 sq ft ground floor office at two-storey Vanbrugh House, at Botleigh Grange, Hedge End, near Southampton, was sourced for the law firm by Nik Cox, a partner at the Southampton office of commercial property consultancy Vail Williams.

Craig Petrie, Eric Robinson Solicitors’ managing partner, said: “We’ve had a commercial relationship with Snows for many years now and the Toyota Yaris Hybrid will provide staff with greener transport to and from our other offices across the region.

“It will serve as a fuel-efficient city runaround and no doubt, there will be competition to see who can get the most miles to the gallon because of the electric power.”

Stephen Snow, Snows’ chairman, said: “Eric Robinson and Snows are two expanding companies, established locally within two years of one another, and are part of the lives of many families and businesses here in Hampshire and the surrounding counties.

“My late father, founder Geoff Snow, sponsored a youth cricket team in the New Forest a few decades ago and it is great to see that one of the players from that time is David Franklin, Eric

Robinson’s operations and business development manager.

“These links and continuity, with customer service and loyalty at the heart of everything we do, are important.”

Snows Toyota Hedge End sales manager Steve Barrett said: “The Toyota Yaris Hybrid is very economical for stop-start city driving and has a regenerative braking system which produces electricity for storage in the battery for petrol-free use later on.

“We expect to see more businesses like Eric Robinson to switch to hybrid pool cars because of the fuel efficiency savings.”

Snows, headquartered in Southampton and established in 1962, has 835 staff, with 45 dealerships covering 19 brands and operating from 28 locations across nine counties southern England.
