Five brand new top-of-the-range coaches have rolled into the Yellow Buses’ depot in Bournemouth ready to serve the south coast-to-London routes.
The 55 seat coaches represent a £1.7m investment and have joined the fleet that the Yellows operate on behalf of National Express.
The news comes shortly after Yellow Buses was bought out by the management team of David Squire, Simon Newport and Phil Pannell from its French owners.
National Express’s new coaches have a larger capacity than previous vehicles and include all the up-to-date features passengers now demand.
These include VUER – the National Express digital entertainment service which is free and includes hours of films, TV shows, news and sport updates and entertainment for children.
All passengers have to do to access it is log-on to the free on-board wi-fi.
As well as toilet facilities and large luggage space, the coaches come with the latest high-specification Euro 6 engines.
David Squire, Yellows’ managing director, said: “These are exceptional vehicles and the passengers will love them.
“They have three axles which allows for the extra length and they have Scania chassis with Caetano Levante bodywork.
“We have been running the National Express coaches for some time, not least because we have a superb engineering department as well as expert drivers.
“By offering plenty of room, comfortable seats as well as wi-fi, charging points and on-board entertainment we will hopefully attract people who might otherwise have driven.
“This investment by Bournemouth Transport enables National Express to upgrade the capacity of the 035 service, operating from Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth to and from London.”
