Yellow Buses has been named as a finalist in the Bournemouth and Poole Tourism Awards – aka the BAPTAs.
It is in line for the ‘green initiative’ prize at the awards that celebrate the tourism sector across the conurbation.
Yellow Buses, whose fleet operates across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch has introduced many innovations.
The operator, despite its name, has always embraced ‘green’ behaviour and invested in it.
Its Carbon Stoppers initiative is now ten years old and has raised £30,000 for local charities.
Also, by running so many services it reduces the number of cars on the already congested roads.
Its travel shop in the town centre receives about 500 items of unclaimed items each month and if the owner can’t be found the items are recycled through various charities.

“We have always had an emphasis on being ‘green’ and will continue to look at ways of being environmentally friendly.
