Former golf pro James Pitcher is the new Sales Manager at Snows Fiat & Abarth Portsmouth.
James, 39, is helping to drive the success of one of Snow’s newest acquisitions.
The company acquired the former Perrys Portsmouth Fiat, Perrys Portsmouth Mazda and Perrys Portsmouth Peugeot, by the A27 in Walton Road, Farlington, in October 2018.
Number 49 of 50 franchised Snow dealerships it is now home to the independent motor retailer’s Fiat, Mazda and Peugeot marques in Portsmouth, as well as Abarth, the performance hatch arm of the Fiat marque.
James was a professional golfer for 15 years, enjoying success on the Hampshire Circuit before becoming Head Golf Pro at Romsey Golf Club.
He found his true vocation however when he switched from a driving balls to driving car sales – progressing from Trainee Salesman to Sales Manager in just five years at Sparshatts Used Car Centre in Hedge End.
His most recent role was with Balmer Lawn Group in the New Forest, where he developed his management skills in its Honda, Suzuki and Isuzu franchises.
James said: “The motor trade is ever-evolving and we are currently in the midst of a challenging period in the new car market. But despite the almost daily challenges I get a real buzz from it.”
“I am extremely lucky to have inherited a great team at Snows Fiat in Karen Searles, Jake Harris, Luciano Odey-Sole, with further opportunities to enhance the team whilst we grow the operation.
“Creating an environment where we can produce the very best levels of customer experience is a priority going forward.
“Alongside this we will be concentrating our efforts on growing the business, with the aim of becoming one of Snow’s most profitable franchises.”
He continued: “It is an extremely exciting time to be here, not only with Fiat but with Snows. The iconic Fiat 500 will have an electric option from this year and the range is evolving to become one of the most fashionable in the market place, and with the investment made by Snow’s in the Portsmouth operations it is a great time to be at the helm.”
Snows is now the largest dealer group in the city.
Abarth models include the Abarth 595, a trend-setting city car, and the 695 Biposto – tagged as the world’s smallest supercar with a 1.4-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a top speed of 143mph. Biposto is Italian for two-seater.
