Children across Dorset are being asked to help raise money for a cancer charity that has seen its funding slump during the coronavirus crisis.
Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF) gives grants to families who are facing hardship because of cancer – help that is required more than ever at the moment.
Its #kids4DCCF invites young people to use their daring, imagination and sense of fun to raise much needed funds.
Already, youngsters have done sponsored trampoline bounces, readathons, footie goal scoring and even loo roll juggling.
Sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the charity’s website.
DCCF chairman Chris Thomas said: “People with cancer are at higher risk from the coronavirus, but our fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled.
“Therefore we are asking children across the county to help us by doing a sponsored event.
“We know that many parents are looking for things to keep their children occupied and we hope they will join our #kids4dccf campaign.
“Children can ask friends and families for sponsorship and the events can be videoed or photographed as proof – and even posted online to inspire others, with the hashtag kids4dccf.
“Sponsorship forms and details can be found on our website. Every penny will be used to help someone.”

Notes to editors:
DCCF was founded by three nurses from Poole, in 2012.
Each had been touched by cancer, either personally or through friends and relatives, and had learned much about other people’s needs and concerns, especially the added financial burden caused by their diagnosis.
DCCF was born out of a desire to offer financial support to local Dorset residents affected by cancer and their families.
The charity is overseen by a board of hands-on Trustees and supportive Patrons As a non-profit making organisation, all net proceeds are used solely to provide financial support to individuals and/or cancer groups, organisations, hospices and hospitals in Dorset.
The Trustees are supported by ‘Friends of DCCF’ – our dedicated group of Sponsors,
Volunteers, Fundraisers and Supporters – without whom we could not operate.
