HIGH FLYER: Barnbrook Systems Chief Technology Officer Andrew Barnett at Farnborough International Airshow 2014

A Hampshire businessman is lifting off as membership chairman at the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) – one of Europe’s longest established aerospace and defence trade bodies.

Andrew Barnett, who is chief technology officer at Barnbrook Systems Ltd, has been appointed at the Aerospace Consortium as it continues to grow.

The FAC, founded in 1997, is a not-for-profit association which provides support for more than 300 members in the South, including many in Hampshire.

Multi-award-winning Barnbrook Systems Ltd has been a leading FAC member for many years with its managing director Tony Barnett on the board.

The Fareham-based company will be among the businesses with exhibitors’ pods on the largest-ever FAC stand in Hall One in the UK Pavilion at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow in July.

Andrew said: “I am looking forward to helping more businesses benefit from membership of the consortium and the success it can bring.

“Membership of the FAC enables access to national and international prime contractors, and medium and small sized firms.

“By boosting membership numbers, activity and engagement we become a stronger organisation for all involved.”

He added: “Farnborough International Airshow is one of the major dates on the FAC’s calendar to champion its members and help them win business in a global marketplace.”

Farnborough-based FAC’s members include national and international primes, medium and small sized firms, and several world leading aviation research centres.

FAC membership also includes access to the Supply Chain in the 21st Century (SC21) initiative, global marketing opportunities, attendance at exhibitions at cost saving prices, access to a tailored events programme, networking and inclusion in the FAC directory.

David Barnes, who is FAC chief executive, said: “As one of Europe’s leading aerospace trade bodies our success has been built on the strength of our membership.

“We are pleased to welcome Andrew, who will be a valuable asset as we look forward to continuing to help our members and membership to grow and thrive.”

Barnbrook MD Tony Barnett met PM David Cameron while on the company’s stand with FAC at the last Farnborough International Airshow in 2014.

Barnbrook will be attending for the 11th successive time in 2016 when it will display its innovative technology, including its BlueCube remote condition monitoring system.
