A little brother and sister from Hounslow have raised almost £400 to help grant wishes to poorly children.
Kind Louie and Ella walked the whole way round their neighbouring park in aid of Round Table Children’s Wish, a national charity based in Bournemouth which provides hand-crafted wishes for youngsters with life-threatening illnesses.
The little walkers kept going for three miles to raise around £400 for the charity including Gift Aid donations, smashing their original target of £100.
They were encouraged by their great-auntie Katy Spencer, who has raised more than £5,000 for the charity over the last few years.
She said: “We didn’t think they’d make it all the way round but they did – they sang and danced and clapped their way round, we even did a couple of Facebook Lives. They really enjoyed it.
“They’re lovely children. We’re a big extended family and we always do everything together so it was natural for them to be involved with helping the charity.”
Katy added: “They were so pleased to be doing their bit. It was actually Louie’s idea – he heard me talking about Round Table Children’s Wish and said ‘I’d like to do something to help poorly children’. So that’s how the walk came about.”
Over the last 30 years Round Table Children’s Wish has helped make wishes come true for many youngsters aged four to 17 and their families all over the country.
A dedicated wish co-ordinator takes care of every detail to ensure each child gets the wish of their dreams, whether it’s meeting a hero, going on holiday with their family, or a special gift like an iPad or computer game.
Round Table Children’s Wish fundraising officer Clare Kyrillou said: “What an amazing effort by Louie and Ella – it’s so lovely that these youngsters are helping other children and we’re so grateful to them.
“Our work in granting wishes relies entirely on donations like this.”
