A new networking group aimed at the next generation of leaders has been launched in Dorset.

Nearly 50 people attended the first meeting of the Ellis Jones Future Leaders Breakfast Club, held at Bournemouth’s Cosy Club.

The club – believed to be the first of its kind in Dorset – is the brainchild of Abi Sinden, a business services solicitor with Ellis Jones.

It is specifically for junior and mid level staff, providing the opportunity to network as well as receive training on ‘soft skills’ such as selling and customer service.

Guest speaker: Astrid Davies, of Astrid Davies Consulting, at the inaugural Ellis Jones Future Leaders Breakfast Club.

Astrid Davies, of Astrid Davies Consulting, was guest speaker at the first event with her talk covering time management and prioritisation.

“We were very pleased with the turnout which far exceeded our expectations. The club has got off to an excellent start,” said Abi.

She added: “We were keen to not just attract professionals such as lawyers and accountants but also a wider mix of people. We had estate agents, owner managed businesses, financial planners and insurers among others.

“Our next event will be on July 11 but we’ll have to find a new venue as we attracted so many people. We plan to hold bi-monthly breakfasts and hope that attendees will also be keen to participate in evening social events as well.”

Maria Redman, a dispute resolution solicitor with Ellis Jones, assisted Abi with the club together with members of the law firm’s marketing team.

Packed house: The inaugural Ellis Jones Future Leaders Breakfast Club at Bournemouth’s Cosy Club attracted nearly 50 people.

Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “We’re very keen to develop junior and mid level staff as they’re the leaders of the future.

“It was an excellent initiative by Abi and we were very happy as a firm to sponsor the first meeting. The impressive response demonstrates how there is an obvious demand for this type of event.”
