A hotel in Southsea undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment has given a warm welcome to the city’s top property experts during a recent behind-the-scenes tour.
Members of the Portsmouth Property Association were offered an insight into future plans for the Queens Hotel by owner Farid Yeganeh.
Since taking ownership of the hotel back in 2017 as part of a financial consortium, Farid has overseen a major transformation plan for the beautiful Edwardian building.
“It was a pleasure to be able to welcome representatives from the Portsmouth Property Association (PPA) to the Queens Hotel.
“Taking on such a major restoration project hasn’t been without its challenges – especially as the hotel has remained open throughout the major works.
“But a combination of hard work and patience has paid off and the Queens is being restored to her former glory,” said Farid.
The Queens Hotel has welcomed many VIPs and dignitaries over the years including stars of stage and screen and world leaders.
During the recent D-Day 75 commemoration events in Southsea, the hotel was the backdrop for a spectacular patriotic light show – and she enjoyed her busiest week yet.
“Our aim is to be Southsea’s only four-star hotel offering the best possible service and beautiful surroundings,” added Farid.
PPA Chairman Chris Green said his members welcomed the opportunity to find out more about what was happening at the Queens and to see the transformation for themselves.
Following a background briefing and refreshments the group, which included PPA secretary Neil Hawkins, Ian Lee from McAndrew Martin Surveyors, Melanie Palfrey from Biscoes Solicitors and Rob Marchant from Clive Emson Auctioneers, was given a tour of the public areas and refurbished bedrooms as well as viewing the extensive basement which will be converted in the coming months.
Chris said: “It was great to be able to see the quality of the work that has been undertaken already and to hear about the future plans from Farid.
“The bedrooms on the first floor overlooking the Solent have been upgraded to a really high specification and now offer the best possible accommodation with a stunning view.”
