A Snows employee who has scaled the ladder of success and continues to smash targets has been named Manager of the Year by the south of England motor retailer.
Dale Vaughan, who joined the company as a sales advisor 16 years ago and now leads the successful sales team at Snows Toyota Southampton, was awarded the ‘Driving Spirit’ award.
He was among six managers nominated by Snows’ directors for the accolade, presented at the company’s third annual conference and named in honour of late company founder Geoff Snow.
Held at the Hilton Ageas Bowl, near Southampton, more than 160 staff attended the event, with industry insights, analysis and performance.
There was a special focus this year on the mantra ‘Our People are our Success’ and this was reflected in the opening, commemorative film which charted the incredible progress of the business across almost six decades.
Group chairman Stephen Snow, who presented the award said: “Dale started with the Group 16 years ago as a service advisor and went into sales as a Sales Executive, before moving on to become a Business Manager, then Assistant Sales Manager and for the past four years a Sales Manager.
“All of these roles at the same dealership.
“Having achieved a record year for the Sales Department in 2017 we did not think he and his team would go on to better that – well they smashed it!”
In addition to his coveted award Dale was also presented with a £500 holiday voucher.
Dale said: “Winning was a great feeling and unexpected, against some strong contenders.
“The team I work with here at Southampton make my job much easier and are a big part of the reason for winning. We run a tight process that everyone buys into and makes Snows Toyota a great place to work.”
Snows enjoyed its biggest year of growth in 2018, achieving its 50th franchise with Cupra
Portsmouth and also acquiring the former Perry’s and Portfield sites in Southampton.
Earlier in the conference, Chairman Stephen Snow welcomed the group’s newest managers and told conference attendees: “The last few years have been busy with expansion and development and whilst there will be some refurbishment this year, 2019 is a year to pause, review our existing businesses and develop our people.”
The conference was sponsored by Car Care Plan, CES, CitNOW, Codeweavers, Cooper Solutions, Gforces, Martec, Sandhurst Autoprint and Dealership Cleaning Solutions.
The five other staff nominated for Manager of the Year were: Christopher Grist, Group DMS Manager, Adrian Tomlinson, Manager of the Customer Contact Centre, Carl Bourner, MINI Brand Manager at Snows Mini Portsmouth, Dan Bush, Manager of SARC and Michael Ewen, Aftersales Manager at FCA.
