If you’ve ever thought about testing yourself with a 10k run, helping children at the same time might be just the motivation you need.
Round Table Children’s Wish, the national charity which grants hand-crafted wishes to youngsters with life-threatening illnesses, has places available for the ASICS London 10k which takes place on Sunday July 21.
In return for a £25 place, runners pledge to raise at least £150 in sponsorship for the charity. The money will be used to help make wishes come true for children and young people aged between four and 17.
Round Table Children’s Wish fundraising officer Samantha Read said: “The London 10k is a great chance to run past the city’s iconic sights and there is a real street party atmosphere. I have run it myself and it’s an excellent, fun event for all abilities.
“If you’re a runner wanting to take part we’d love to hear from you – we couldn’t do what we do for these children without your help.”
Round Table Children’s Wish has helped many poorly children and their families over the last 30 years. A dedicated wish co-ordinator makes sure every little detail is taken care of to ensure each child gets the wish of their dreams, whether it’s a holiday, a gift or even meeting their hero.
The ASICS London 10k, co-sponsored by Virgin Sport, promises live bands and DJs motivating runners at every kilometre, plus the chance to run down closed Regent Street, the Strand and Embankment.
