See the birdies at Hamptworth

Hamptworth Golf and Country Club is hosting a family day to launch its new restaurant and café-bar, Barny’s.

Between 10am and 4pm on Friday, April 1, Barny the owl and his birds of prey pals will be performing.

There will be free coffee and cake for mums and dads and ice cream for the kids.

And everyone will receive a free discount card giving them 15% off bar and food purchases throughout 2016, including the Sunday carvery.

Entrepreneur Carl Faulds, who bought the club a year ago, is creating a family-friendly atmosphere and encouraging non-golfers to make use of the facilities for morning coffee, lunches, dinners and functions.

Set on the glorious Hamptworth estate between Southampton and Salisbury in the north of the New Forest, the golf course is famed for its Par 6 hole, The Beast.

But the country club also has a magnificent clubhouse as well as five international croquet lawns and a tennis section.

Carl said: “We have restyled the restaurant and bar and are throwing it open to the local community.

“It’s a family-friendly venue with sensibly-priced food and drink and we also host regular ‘Dine around the World’ evenings and live music acts.

“We are launching Barny’s over the Easter holidays so mums and dads can bring their children to see the owl and birds of prey, and have a free cup of coffee.

“We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible so we can show off our wonderful, friendly club.”
