Sport enthusiasts at Chichester’s newest care home are in for a treat thanks to a tie-up with the city’s rugby club.

Colten Care’s Wellington Grange, which officially opened last month (April), has become the latest sponsor of Chichester Rugby Football Club (CRFC).

The £11 million home, by the corner of Broyle Road and Wellington Road, is sited next to the club’s Oaklands Park ground.

Many of Wellington Grange’s rooms overlook the ground and weekend games can be watched from some residents’ rooms.

Club members will be coming to the home for occasional talks about the club and its history.

The sponsorship will also allow the club and Wellington Grange to work closely together to create special rugby watching experiences for residents, including those with limited mobility.

Key fixtures will also be included in ‘what’s on’ lists.

CRFC, which has more than 1,000 members of all age groups, operates five senior teams playing league rugby as well as a mini and junior section rated as a Beacon by the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

Clare Gibson, Wellington Grange’s Home Manager, said: “Chichester Rugby Football Club is a thriving club which, like ourselves, sees itself as a key member of the community.

“We’re very pleased to be playing our part in its continuing success and look forward to developing a close and long-term relationship.”

Ron Migliorini, CRFC Sponsorship Head, said: “Chichester Rugby club are delighted to welcome Wellington Grange as a sponsor.

“The proximity of our grounds, probably the most attractive in West Sussex, present both Wellington Grange and the club with new enthusiasts for the game of rugby.

“Few residential homes can match such a super ‘go to’ location on their doorstep. We look forward to welcoming new senior supporters in the coming months and years.”

Wellington Grange is family-owned Colten Care’s 20th home and its first in Sussex.

The 72-bedroom home provides residential, nursing and respite care services and will create up to 120 jobs when it reaches full occupancy.

Facilities at Wellington Grange include an in-house cinema, hairdressing salon, spa room, Brandy Hole library, Royal Sussex Dining Room and Sandpiper Bistro.
