Sporty solicitor Nigel Taylor is hoping for a chain reaction when he takes part in a gruelling 100-mile cycle ride this weekend.
The father of three is among 25,000 amateur riders tackling the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 on Sunday July 29.
The event starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and continues through London and Surrey on a similar route to that of the London 2012 Olympic road races.
The ride, which is on closed roads, finishes in spectacular style on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.
“I hope to raise £1,000 for Breast Cancer Now. It’s personal because my sister-in-law fought, and survived, breast cancer,” said Nigel.
He added: “I have tackled many tough bike rides, including a 300 mile cycle ride in Costa Rica and also a 320 mile ride across Vietnam and Thailand in the last two years.
“I’ve been training hard but this is the first time I’ve tackled 100 miles in one day. I have a mixture of excitement and trepidation but it’s going to be quite an experience.”
Past sporting challenges undertaken by Nigel include charity treks across the Sahara Desert, Himalayas, Patagonia and Brazil, raising thousands of money for charity.
Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 is part of the world’s greatest festival of cycling.
More than 100,000 cyclists, including some of the world’s top professionals, will cycle more than three million miles over Saturday and Sunday in a series of events including the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100.
