TeamJobs ramps up engineering success

TeamJobs is moving its engineering division up a gear – enlisting skilled, permanent workers for firms including bomb disposal expert ABP.

Specialist recruitment agency TeamJobs’ has offices in Poole and Bournemouth and is the current Dorset Company of the Year.

Poole branch manager Julian Knott, said: “This summer and autumn have been phenomenal for our technical and engineering division, with placements up 50 per cent on target.

“Over the summer we have seen a large increase in the need for contract and temporary staff as well as many of our clients requiring permanent white collar engineering employees.

“Some of the permanent vacancies filled include a quality manager, business development manager, production planner, design engineers, a works manager and a continuous improvement manager.”

Historically TeamJobs has specialised in recruiting mostly blue collar, temporary workers for clients in technical and engineering sectors.

But earlier this year the agency expanded its team and shifted its focus to providing permanent,

white collar workers, as well as continuing to supply temporary and contract blue collar staff.

Dorset is home to a thriving and varied advanced engineering sector, which includes aerospace, defence, composite and marine technologies.

Altogether these employ around 15,400 people and contribute £800 million to the county’s economy.

AB Precision (Poole) Limited, known as ABP, started life 50 years ago as a contractor to the UK Ministry of Defence.

The company, in Fleets Lane, Poole, now provides innovative engineering solutions for specialist markets around the world, designing, manufacturing and supporting electro mechanical equipment, from bomb disposal units and other military hardware, to advanced robotics.

ABP’s Operations Manager Phil Valentine, said:  “Our business is growing and so is the diversity of our commercial contracts.

“This month we have been producing machines for contact lens manufacture and inspection alongside Assistance Points for London Transport staff and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) for export to law enforcement and security agencies around the world.

“But of course our continuing success depends heavily on employing the right staff and this isn’t always easy; at the moment there is a real shortage of electrical technicians in Dorset.”

ABP recently signed TeamJobs as its Master Vendor.

Phil said:  “This has removed a great deal of the pressure as it means TeamJobs manages our recruitment, including that from secondary suppliers.

“As a result we are employing people like technician Roy Phipps, who came to us through TeamJobs in February and whom has proved to be a real asset to the company.”

TeamJobs has temporary and permanent vacancies in engineering and technical, commercial, industrial and hospitality sectors. It also offers an executive search and head hunting service. Call 01202 445700, email info@teamjobs.co.uk or visit: www.teamjobs.co.uk
