An innovative Hampshire manufacturing firm is aiming for a hat-trick of titles at regional manufacturing awards this month.

Fareham-based Barnbrook Systems has been nominated for the honours at the Made in the South East Awards 2016 on Thursday November 24.

Judges have shortlisted the 40-strong family-run business for the prestigious SME Manufacturing Company of the Year (below £25m turnover). It is also in the running for the Technology Award and the Aerospace and Defence Award.

The nominations follow the company’s continuing success with its trailblazing BlueCube remote condition monitoring technology.

They also come on hot on the heels of a six-figure contract with aerospace and defence giant Leonardo for a BlueCube enabled Refuelling Switch to allow safer and more efficient inflight refuelling of helicopters, deemed to be an in-class world first.

Andrew Barnett, chief technology officer, said: “There are some vastly talented and innovative manufacturing firms in the South East.

“We’re proud to be included among those nominated for these awards and will have our fingers crossed on the night although it will be a great evening recognising the many success stories in the region whether we win or not.”

Barnbrook Systems, based in Fareham Park Road, is a designer, developer and manufacturer of electronic and electro-mechanical switching devices and systems for aerospace, defence, maritime, rail and commercial industries worldwide.

Its BlueCube and accompanying iSense software – all designed and manufactured in house – can track nearly any function on an such an asset as a train or helicopter in real-time to make sure it keeps running efficiently.   The innovative system can be used across any sector, including marine, automotive and security and forms a key component in the Internet Of Things.

The awards, organised by Insider Media, are being held at the Hilton Hotel at Gatwick Airport on Thursday November 24.

Barnbrook’s nomination comes after it was a finalist for BlueCube in the Innovation of the Year category at the prestigious British Small Business Awards in October.
