Bourne Free – Bournemouth’s gay pride festival – received a donation from the joint Yellow Buses/Daily Echo Carbon Stoppers initiative.
Martyn Underhill, a Trustee of Bourne Free and Dorset’s Police and Crime Commissioner, received the cheque for £200 on behalf of the charity at this year’s colourful event.
Carbon Stoppers has handed out nearly £20,000 to charities and good causes since its launch in 2008.
Each week the Yellow Buses holds a ‘Thank You Thursday’ when every trip taken by passengers on the day contributes to a separately administered Community Chest.
This year’s celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture had the theme of ‘superheroes’ and the emergency services had a high profile.
Mr Underhill said: “I know the organisers were extremely appreciative of the donation and are already looking ahead to next year’s event.”
Terri Hignett from Yellow Buses said: “We were delighted to be part of Bourne free again this year and happy to help with the donation.
“We are Bournemouth’s brightest bus company and Bourne Free is the town’s most colourful event.”
