A Hampshire manufacturer is set to showcase pioneering new technology at its 13th consecutive Farnborough International Airshow.
Barnbrook Systems Ltd will reveal a range of new products when the world-famous event is held for the first time in four years after being cancelled in 2020 due to Covid.
The 45-strong firm’s range will include:
* alarm sub-systems for aviation based on technology pioneered on nuclear submarines
* timer modules for control systems
* current sensing contactors for upgraded and new aircraft
* 200-amp contactors for power systems
Barnbrook Systems heads to the show on July 18-22 hot on the heels of a new contract win to supply its innovative fuel switch to the Poland’s fleet of search and rescue helicopters.
Managing director Tony Barnett said: “Undoubtedly it has been a turbulent two years for businesses, especially those in the aviation and aerospace sector.
“At Barnbrook Systems, we have used the time wisely to develop a range of new services and products, which will be on show at this year’s airshow.

Barnbrook Systems – founded in 1978 – will be attending with fellow members of the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) on a prominently placed stand at the show, which is usually held every two years.
Its alarm sub-systems were first used on the MoD’s nuclear deterrent refurbishment programme and have been adapted for aerospace.
For use with alarm systems, the alarm modules detect flooding, grade A and grade B dangers and are able to trigger responses as well as give audible and visual alerts to crew.
Barnbrook’s timer modules are crucial for sequencing of circuit activations in control and switching systems – for example, during take-off and landing.
The firm’s current sensing contactor has played an important role in upgrading the UK’s air attack fleet during scheduled maintenance, repair and overhaul programmes rather than simply providing like-for-like replacements. They are also suited to more modern and new aircraft.
The company’s 200-amp contactor is proving a crucial component in electrical power systems, extending the lifespan of aircraft and combating obsolescence with new technology which is also aligned for new developments in aviation.

Barnbrook Systems’ fuel switch is used to allow Leonardo’s AW101 aircraft refuel safely and efficiently in mid-air, extending flight ranges and improving efficiency.
Independent family firm Barnbrook Systems Ltd is a designer, developer and manufacturer of many types of electro-mechanical switching devices.
Based in Fareham Park Road, Fareham, it supplies aviation, aerospace, defence, maritime, rail and commercial industries worldwide with clients including multi-national firms, the MOD and UK companies.
According to organisers, the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow resulted in deals worth $192m (£143m) being made.
The show – described as the ‘most important global platform for the aerospace, aviation and defence industry’ – has the theme of ‘pioneer the future’ this year.
