Bere Regis IIs are team of the month

Bere Regis II team – winners of the Dorset Funeral Plan team of the month award for June

Bere Regis II team picked up the Dorset Funeral Plan ‘team of the month’ award for June after four wins and not dropping a point.

During the month they defeated Poole IIIs, Portland Red Triangle IIs, Broadstone IIIs and Ashmore.

The run took them to within a whisker of the top of County Division Four.

Peter Douch from sponsors The Dorset Funeral Plan presented the team with medals, trophy and a bottle of bubbly.

Team skipper Garry King said: “It’s been a real team effort and we’ve a mix of experience and youth.

“At the top of the order Paul Smith and Cian Evans have got us off to some great starts and Tom Swain with the ball has been excellent.

“Also young Tom Munnings has batted at number 4 and played some superb innings.

“Everyone has played their part and the fielding and catching has been very good as well.

“It is our first full season in the league after promotion and we hope to continue this form.”

Peter Douch said: “The team has performed faultlessly throughout June – without dropping a point.

“It’s great how they have introduced young players who will hopefully progress to the first team in time.”
