Berry Recruitment has appointed a new manager at its busy Birmingham branch, and he says the local economy is doing better than many believe.
Chris Cooper has 20 years’ experience in the industry and aims to grow the branch that currently has five staff.
He has worked in the Birmingham area for numerous recruiters and understands the nuances of the region.
The branch works across the industrial, driving, catering, hospitality and commercial sectors, providing temporary staff. It also recruits for permanent roles.
The branch is part of Berry Recruitment Group (BRG) that has several brands and works from nearly 40 locations in England and Wales.
Chris said: “Finding temporary staff is not difficult, but finding the quality is taking a little longer than it used to.
“However, we are now seeing the economy pick up after one or two of the bigger companies began investing.
“This led to work for smaller companies and SMEs in their supply chains, and a requirement for more staff. This has led in turn to a more movement within the economy of the whole region.
“This year did begin a little slowly because there was a lot of caution and uncertainty, which is now dissipating.
“And we are gearing up for a busy autumn – the period between the end of the summer holiday and Christmas is always busy.
“Those sectors that we supply workers for are faring better than some of the reporting would lead you to believe.
“Logistics, production, manufacturing, catering and hospitality are all prospering as we move into the second half of the year.
“Berry Recruitment is a refreshing company to work for not least because it really backs its staff and I get massive support.
“It has excellent training for all our consultants and with a national group behind us I am confident of growing the branch. There is huge potential here.”
Birmingham has an economic output of more than £30bn and in 2021 was the 7th best performing core city in terms of economic growth.
