BID role for Kara

Salisbury Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed its first marketing and communications manager.

Kara Rogers has joined the business-led organisation dedicated to boosting the city’s economy and business environment.

She is responsible for managing and delivering the BID’s marketing strategy as the business-funded group enters its fifth year.

Kara works closely with BID chief executive Robin McGowan, operations manager Steve Godwin and the team for the good of the city.

She said: “I am delighted to have joined the BID team. Having grown up in the Salisbury area I’m hugely passionate about our city and I intend to do my utmost to make sure it continues to be a wonderful place in which to live and work.

“The most important aspect of my role is communicating with BID members to make sure they understand what the BID is all about and what good it is doing for the city.

“I am also heavily involved in marketing Salisbury as a destination city to encourage people from away to visit and boost our local economy.

“Even after five years there may be people who are still unaware of the BID’s fantastic achievements in Salisbury – the City Rangers, free after 3pm parking, a host of events, a cleaner and attractive city, safer streets, support for businesses and much more.”

Kara, who attended The Stonehenge School, Amesbury and Wiltshire College, gained her professional qualifications at the London School of Marketing.

She previously worked as a marketing co-ordinator at Bassets Sales & Lettings in Salisbury.

Kara is actively involved in the local community and regularly takes part in charity fundraising events.

City businesses are due to vote this October to decide on a second term of five years for the BID.

BID chief executive Robin McGowan said: “We are delighted to welcome Kara aboard. She is a brilliant addition to our talented team and I know her dynamism and professionalism will enhance the BID’s role in Salisbury.

“The hard work and dedication she is already demonstrating will help ensure we continue to provide an efficient and effective service for the city and our business members in such an important year for the BID.”

Salisbury BID is a not-for-profit organisation launched in 2014 and funded by 550 businesses which pay an annual levy.

An elected board of directors identifies and implements projects to benefit the city’s economy and enhance its reputation as a welcoming destination.

Salisbury Business Improvement District (BID) was elected in 2014 and encompasses over 550 businesses within the ring road of the city centre of Salisbury. Each business premises with a rateable value exceeding £10,000 pays a 1.5% levy.

The BID’s yearly funds exceeds more than £400,000 each year and is allocated to projects that support and the BID’s original business plan and is split into these three key areas: Welcoming, Safe and Clean; Events and Marketing; Business Support
