Bournemouth’s Marsham Court Hotel has ‘double booked’ itself at this year’s Bournemouth & Poole Tourism Awards (BAPTAs) – as a nominee and an award sponsor.
The family-run hotel in Russell-Cotes Road is nominated for the Large Hotel award and is also sponsoring the Best Retail Experience award.
MD Rosie Wallace, whose family has owned the Marsham Court for the last 30 years, said: “This is a particularly exciting year for us at the BAPTAs as we not only hope to regain the Large Hotel award which we won in *2016, but we are also sponsoring an award for the first time.”
She continued: “The Marsham Court believes we all have a part to play in the continued success of Bournemouth and we also like to recognise excellence when we see it. That’s why we were keen to become a sponsor.
“The retail award is very pertinent to us as we see a natural relationship between the area’s hospitality and retail sectors which we would like to nurture and promote.”
The BAPTAs, formerly the Bournemouth Tourism Awards, are celebrating their 12th anniversary this year and will award winners in 19 categories.
Rosie was named Unsung Hero at last year’s awards, for her dedication in championing the success of Bournemouth’s hospitality industry.
Her late mother Jennie Deavin received an honorary membership for services to hospitality from Bournemouth Accommodation and Hotel Association (BAHA) shortly before she died after a long battle with cancer in 2017.
The BAPTAs Ball Award Ceremony will take place on 15th March, 2018 at the Lighthouse Poole.
The semi-finalists in the Marsham Court Hotel-sponsored Best Retail Experience award category are: Compton Acres, Nellie Mimosa, Titan Leathercraft, Willow Floristry and Webster Family Butchers.
