One of the South’s leading names in motoring is celebrating its 50th franchise dealership with a new-to-market brand.
Snows, in its 56th year and with 952 staff, reached the milestone figure with Cupra, SEAT’s performance car marque.
The independent has been selected by Cupra to retail the standalone Spanish brand at Snows SEAT Portsmouth. It is also the 19th brand for Snows.

Family-run Snows has a turnover of more than £310 million and recently entered 50th in the Automotive Management 100, which lists the largest 100 UK automotive retail groups in the UK.

Stephen Snow, Snows Group Chairman, said: “Our Cupra appointment is a significant milestone for our business.
“It is our 50th franchise dealership and further strengthens our offering to customers who rightly expect exemplary service and choice in a highly competitive market.
“We have been in the business of selling vehicles to hundreds of thousands of customers over half a century and my late father, Geoff, passionately believed that nothing matters more than customer service as the driving spirit of our business.
“There is further cause for a 50th celebration as we have entered, for the first time, 50th position in the largest 100 UK automotive retail groups in Great Britain.”
Last year Linda Gillard, Sales Manager at Snows SEAT Portsmouth, was named Sales Manager of the Year in the Motor Trader Industry Awards 2017, held at Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.
Judges cited the fact that Linda, who joined the group 15 years ago as a sales executive, “excelled in every key performance indicator she was measured against”.
In October Snows acquired its 49th dealership – a single-site multi brand at Walton Road, Farlington, Portsmouth, selling Fiat, Mazda and Peugeot.
Abarth, the performance hatch arm of the Fiat marque, has also been introduced at the location.
Following the acquisition from Perrys, Snows is now the largest motor dealership in Portsmouth, with Abarth, BMW, Cupra, Fiat, Mazda, MINI, Peugeot, SEAT and Toyota.
Snows operates in Berkshire, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Somerset, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire.
With Cupra, Snows has a total of 50 franchised dealerships, 11 specialist used vehicle outlets, called Too Good to Auction, four manufacturer-approved repair centres and a specialist accident repair centre.
Details of the Cupra range in Portsmouth are to be released by Snows at a future date.
