Bidding war over substantial Colchester property

A substantial attached property with plenty of potential in Colchester went under the auctioneer’s gavel this week.

Blackheath Lodge at 27 Blackheath was among 150 lots in the latest auction held by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

Offered jointly with Boydens, it was sold for £325,500 at the firm’s auction which ended on Wednesday 1 May.

Regional Director & Auctioneer Paul Bridgeman said: “We had strong interest in this established building which needs modernisation and improvement throughout.

“Our bidders could see the potential that building may lend itself to sub-division or re-development, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.”

The property, arranged over two levels, is situated on Blackheath (B1025), a continuation of Mersea Road to the south of Colchester city centre.

There is also an annexe to the side on the site which extends to approximately 0.07 hectares (0.16 acres).

Clive Emson Auctioneers holds auctions eight times a year offering specialist advice for auction purposes with offices in Essex, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the West Country, selling with skill, speed and efficiency.

The next auction, the fourth of eight this year, ends on 12 June, with bidding live 48 hours before. Lot entries close on 20 May, with the catalogue available from 24 May.
