Dorset-headquartered storage company Store & Secure has opened its latest huge facility in Poole.

The three-storey building includes serviced offices and more than 500 units including containers outside.

It is run by ‘storage sisters’ Lucy and Sophie Maidman who operate two other large sites, one in Bournemouth and the other in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

The new, bright yellow building is on Blandford Road in Hamworthy and is 40,000 square feet in area.

It has been renamed ‘Joyce House’ after Lucy and Sophie’s mum, Joyce Maidman, who lived her whole life in Hamworthy and died in 2020.

It is a state-of-the art, purpose-built storage facility that sells all packing materials from its ‘box shop’.

Lucy said: “Demand is growing for storage and we identified this location as one that required extra capacity.

“We are working with removal companies and estate agents who are making use of the space we have.

“Some of our serviced offices are already being used by local companies and this is a part of the business that has been growing at our other sites.

“We anticipate many commercial clients taking space because we will happily take in deliveries of stock for them.

“Store & Secure has a real emphasis on offering great service and we are a proud to be a family business.

“We now have a total area of 150,000 square feet across our three sites and have ambitions to grow further.

“The new facility is close to where we grew up and there is a real community feel – we’d love people to pop in and say hello. The kettle is always on.

“Along with our dad Brian we decided to name the building after our mum Joyce because most people in Hamworthy knew her.

“Now there is something lasting in her memory; she would be very proud to have her name up in lights.”

Notes to editors:

Store & Secure was founded in 2010 in Bournemouth by Brian Maidman, who 30 years earlier had founded Maidman Removals. In 2014 the removal business was sold and two years later a second storage facility was opened in Basingstoke. Brian’s daughters Lucy and Sophie now run the business. It was named European Facility of the Year in 2014 and UK Independent Facility of the Year finalists from 2014 to 2019. The company regularly raises money for charity.
