An entrepreneur who has spent 15 years running an estate agency in Spain has set up a business in Braintree, Essex, to take advantage of the growing rental sector.
Mark Maskell returned from the Mediterranean to launch VeriSmart Inventories, a service for landlords and letting agents.
It is a national brand and Mark’s patch also covers Sudbury, Halstead and surrounding areas.
Prior to a property being rented the landlord or agent requires an inventory compiling.
Mark is able to create what is required accurately and at speed using VeriSmart’s very own trademarked technology and voice recognition system.
The process is completely paper-free and the inventories are automatically emailed to agents and tenants for online verification.
Additionally, and in line with current legislation and the housing health and rating system requirements for landlords and their agents, Mark provides extra services.
These include legionella risk assessments, proper carbon monoxide (CO) and smoke detector testing (using synthetic substances) and electrical appliance testing.
Mark, a married father of two, said: “After deciding to return from Spain I looked around for a business to run.
“I noticed that the rental market was growing quickly and after I was introduced to VeriSmart and saw how other licensees were growing really successful businesses I decided to get involved.
“I had run my own business in Spain and wanted to still be my own boss when I came back with my family so I invested and became a VeriSmart licensee.
“I have had excellent training in all aspects of the system and the law, so I feel well prepared to develop the business.
“The system saves agents time and money and because I’m independent it suits all parties.
“My aim is to keep landlords legal and tenants safe and because of the growth in the rental sector there is an enormous amount of work.
“Already I am working for a number of agents in Essex.”
