Descendent peeks at Peake’s forgotten genius

The great granddaughter of one of the country’s finest, but forgotten, wood carvers was introduced to arguably his greatest work after it was purchased by a top dealer. Nicki Holt was invited by Charles Wallrock of Wick Antiques in Lymington, Hants, to see the stunning work he displayed at the recent Chelsea Antiques Fair.

Cromwell’s watch rediscovered

Oliver Cromwell’s silver pocket watch that he had with him in 1650 during his New Model Army’s campaign in Ireland has been rediscovered. Antique expert Martyn Downer is showing at the Chelsea Antiques Fair.

Missing King’s Cup discovered 

A magnificent silver gilt bowl presented by King William IV to the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) is back in England thanks to a maritime antiques dealer. Charles Wallrock of Wick Antiques in Lymington, Hants, who is a keen yachtsman, believes it is the missing trophy from the squadron’s annual race in 1835; the King’s Cup. 

Ejector seat lands on 2Covet portal

A British-built ejection seat used in a French fighter jet has emerged for sale with a leading antique dealer – as aerospace hardware becomes more difficult to find. Chelsea Antiques Fair announces director

The online antique selling portal 2Covet has appointed Sophie Wood as director of the Chelsea Antiques Fair, which it purchased the rights to earlier this year.

Antiques sales move online in lockdown

An online portal where top antique dealers sell their treasures has seen astonishing growth this year – accelerated by the Covid lockdown.
2Covet saw a 283 per cent increase in business between March and June as buyers and sellers moved online, and the growth has continued.
